Whatsapp is one of the world's most loved smartphone app. You can find it on billions of devices in the world. Right from Android to iOS to legacy devices, it is the ubiquitous chat service. Some people prefer using the full sized keyboard on laptops and desktops for Whatsapp. This had lead to the development of Whatsapp Web. This launch was covered here at Techrasta long time back. Now let's see how to download the Whatsapp desktop app, which was launched somewhere around 2016. This is valid for Windows 10, 8.1, 8. 7 and XP for Windows 64 bit and 32 bit architecture. A new updated version was released recently and this post provides the links to the same.

Method A ( latest version options)

Visit https://www.whatsapp.com/download/

Click on "Download for Windows (64 -bit) " to download the installer ~88mb in size.

Note : You may select 32-bit version if your windows is 32 bit. You can check this by right clicking on My Computer and selecting Properties.

Search for your manufacturer here. The link will take you to the respective download page for the laptop drivers. Keep your model number ready to search at the vendor's site. I suggest that you should check your laptop drivers every six months. You need to keep your drivers updated to your personal computer work faster and maintain it free from errors. Also note that old drivers may be security risk(sometimes even new ones!) so check back often to be double sure.

To narrow down your device, click on the brand:

Step 1: select device brand

Now you can click on your device that will open the download page.

Step 2 : select the device

Then you can click on the Download Full ROM :

After you download it, transfer it to the root of your SD card in the folder downloaded_rom.

Now, click on settings >about phone>update

Now click on select update package and then select the file in the downloaded_rom folder. You are good to go. Click on Update and the update will begin. Needless to mention that you should backup the contacts and data before update and if you fry up your phone or smoke comes out of it, we are not responsible

Free Download of Windows 10

Windows 10 can be downloaded from here. the details are mentioned below for steps to be followed for the same. It is fairly a straightforward process :

Sign-in to windows account ( or register for a new account)
Sign-up for the Windows Insider program
Select the Windows 10 version to download
Download Windows 10

All the steps are discussed below in detail. Just follow the step and you shall start the download in 2 minutes only. For power users, this tutorial may not be required at all and you can skip to the download tutorial.

Precautions and warnings

All right, it's not that you are being scared to not install Windows 10 but certain warnings are given from the side of Microsoft which should be followed at any cost :

The gist of the warnings are that you should install Windows 10 preview verison if you know your way around the system.

The steps required :

1. Once you open the download link, you should see this screen.Click on the link marked in yellow:

2. Next screen, click on Get started.

3.Next you need to log in (or register if you don't have a windows account)

4. Click on Continue

5. Now you shall reach this screen (just hold on, few steps more!). Just scroll down and click on Get the preview.

6. Now pay special attention. You can either click on Start upgrade now bubut I recommend that you DONT do that !

7.Click on download the ISO files and then you shall go the next screen:

8. Now click on Download but before you do that check whether your system supports 64bit & have 4Gb or more of RAM? if yes then go for 64bit else download the 32bit version.

If you shall test it in a virtual box/ VMWARE then also go for 32bit as it is easier on the simulated system.

While the Nokia feature phones are a thing of the past and the newer Lumia series are not much to look into other than the excellent cameras in certain top models, they do offer an amazing feature that comes very nifty to the travelers.

I am talking about the downloadable Nokia maps, that when used in conjunction with the GPS, offers some alternative to full fledged GPS devices. You can now seek the guidance of the heavenly bodies encircling the sky with or without Internet connection. You can even search for pre-loaded landmarks, restaurants, hotels, airports, ATM, etc even without connecting to the cellular network. This does come handy when you are trapped in an area without network coverage or have exhausted the Internet subscription.
