Pulsar AS150

Bajaj recently launched the Pulsar AS150 in the market which has been touted as the best adventure sports bikes ever made in India. We are here to present a brief and to the point review of the motor cycle.

Power


The bike has plenty of power. In fact the company goes to lengths to boast that it has the highest power in any 150 cc bike. While it is doubted, you can still feel the thrust every time you twist the throttle. The bike has good low and mid range but upper range has sparkle.


The power is delivered by the same tried and tested 149.5cc mill that was developed with the Kawasaki for the NS150 and has been re-tuned to give a higher output.

This takes a little toll on the mileage. One can expect a mileage of 60 kml to 65 kmpl on the highway but in the city it gave only around 50 kmpl.

Design

The design is not as unsavory as the Hero Karizma ZMR 2014 edition but is not an eye candy either. It is debatable whether you will like it or not but generally it is acceptable.

It is available in three colors : BLACK, RED and BLUE.

While Indians get attracted towards the full faired body like magnets, this semi faired one might have few takers. The overall design is a no frill one and nothing useless has been added.

The front features a neat looking cluster with the projector sitting in the middle upper part, leading on to a smooth, tall visor. This will be a boon to cruise at 100 - 120 kmph on the highways. 

The ride


The motor cycle is projected towards people who need bikes for long journeys and want a dependable and robust companion. Pulsar AS150 is not just well suited for Indian Roads due to its suspension, it has excellent ground clearance( though less than Impulse's G C of 245 mm )

However it's suspension is more firm and feels grounded than the Impulse, which is more suited for off-roading. The Adventure sports category is not for off-roading but can can be used for soft roading or soft off roading like village roads or pot holed roads. The front suspension also gets an anti friction bush which helps to enhance the front suspension.

Conclusion

The motorcycle is a great miles eater and offers a perfect hybrid way between touring and city riding with decent power and dynamics. Strongly recommended.
